Dr Girish M Sawakare has more than 6 years of experience and is working as a Consultant Spine Surgeon in Mumbai across different hospitals.
He graduated (MBBS) from Grant Government Medical College and Hospital, Mumbai popularly known as Sir JJ Hospital. He earned MCI Recognised Diploma In Orthopaedics from Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Government Medical College and Sassoon Hospital, Pune also know as BJMC Pune. He completed his tenure in Secondary DNB in Orthopaedics from HBTMC and Cooper Hospital, Mumbai which also included Microdiscectomy and MISS Spine Surgery Training of 2 years.
Later, while working as a Senior Registrar at Dr LH Hiranandani Hospital Powai he was offered Spine Fellowship where he sharpened his surgical skills comprising whole spectrum of Spine Conditions, Procedures and Surgeries in accordance with the latest surgical protocols.
Having completed his fellowship, Dr Sawakare worked as a Senior Faculty in the Department of Orthopaedics at Dr DY Patil Medical College, Navi Mumbai where he was involved in teaching Orthopaedic trainee doctors, MBBS students, Physiotherapists and students of Allied Health Sciences.
He has done more than 2000 spine surgeries including minimal invasive spine surgeries, deformity corrections, traumatic spinal cord injury, spinal instrumentation, degenerative diseases and infections. He is trained in doing cervical spine, thoracic and lumbar spine surgeries.
He is an active member of ASSI - Association of Spine Surgeons of India, BOS - Bombay Orthopaedic Society and many others. Dr Sawakare takes active interest in the latest techniques and happenings in the field of Spine and Orthopaedics.
